Getting to know Artailer (Introducing Artailer)

Artailer was created out of necessity to conveniently access quality handmade crafts within Canada, to preserve and capture our memories, and more importantly to directly connect art lovers and collectors, with the makers of the art pieces they love.  Our exclusive online Art Centric Marketplace offers a unique platform for artists and photographers to share their creative works directly with art collectors and art lovers all over the world.

Be it Aboriginal or Inuit artworks from the territories, paintings and photographs of the wonderful landscapes in the prairies, or pieces showcasing the magnificent topographies in Pacific and Atlantic Canada, Artailer brings it all and more to you with just a simple click of the mouse.

Artailer is on a mission “to provide a curated borderless marketplace for the finest contemporary artworks from all regions of Canada to art lovers and collectors in Canada and beyond.” Artailer aims to give talented Canadian artists the worldwide exposure they deserve, and connect art lovers with masterpieces they would miss-out on in a typical gallery setting. Our borderless marketplace allows Canadian artists to sell their pieces directly to art lovers, making it easier for artists to find their audience and for art lovers to find their next masterpiece.

  Enter your login details and click on ‘Log In’ to continue to your account.

 

Even though Artailer operates as a visual art gallery, its office is located in the heart of Toronto. 

If you are an artist, you have to choose, I am an Artist/Photographer when signing up.

 

Go through all the steps, and make sure to answer all the questions.

 

Note, if you are already in the middle of the sign-up process, you can’t choose to save and continue at a later time.  If you navigate away from the screen without fully completing the process, your information will be lost, and you will have to re-submit it upon return.

Ensure to have at least 3 images of your works that fully showcase your skills, perfect descriptions of the pieces, your artist’s bio and so forth.

If you cannot login to your Artailer account, please follow the instructions below:

 

 

 

Enter the email address you used for Artailer, and you’ll be emailed a link to reset your password.

 

 

If you’re logged on to your account and can’t remember your password, go to your profile page on Artailer.ca, and click on the ‘Change Password’ button located at the top right corner.

 

Click on ‘Change Password’, then change and enter your new password.

Or log out of your account, then follow the instructions in steps 1 and 2 above.

 

Go to your profile page on Artailer.ca, and click on the ‘Change Password’ button on the top right corner.

 

   

Click on the Change Password, change enter your new password. If you still have trouble logging in, please contact our support team through artistsupport@artailer.caThey will help you access your account.

Please note that we do not accept copied pieces. All artworks submitted to Artailer.ca for exhibition must be original and of high professional quality. Our curators scrutinize all works we display on our site. At the moment, we do not accept video art, digital printing, open-edition works, jewelry, knitted items, blown glass, clothing, furniture or lighting. 

Payment, Return and Refunds

No, our buyers have a 7-day guarantee period within which they can return the purchase and get a refund. Thus, when an artwork is returned, neither Artailer nor the artist get paid. Our goal is to have zero pieces returned. That is why we work in close collaboration with our artists, managing all aspects of the logistical chain to ensure that our buyers receive their purchase in time and in the best condition. 

We are all humans, and our taste and fashion may change with time. Returns are either caused by factors that are beyond our control, or factors we can control and mitigate. We work closely with our artists to ensure there are zero returns of the products sold on Artailer.ca.

A few causes of purchase returns:

  • Misrepresentation of product
  • Damaged in transit due to wrong packaging
  • The customer ordered the incorrect product or size
  • The wrong product is shipped to the customer
  • The customer decided the product was not needed or wanted
  • No reason given for the return
  • The product did not match the description provided
  • The actual product does not fit the buyer’s expectation
  • The incorrect product is shipped. 

Yes, once we receive a return notification of your work, Artailer will send you a message with the detailed reason for the return. 

We have several structures in place to help reduce the probability of product decline or return. Some of these structures include high level of customer service/communication with the buyers before, during and after the buying process to ensure that the artwork purchased is the best for the purpose. In addition, our custom-made corrugated art shipping boxes are engineered with the highest grade of box and foam and can withstand shocks during transit, which helps to prevent damage. We also try to get the works shipped by air and delivered to the buyer’s doorstep. More so, Artailer works in close collaboration with its artists to ensure that the correct information is provided, and educates its artists on the basics of packaging and shipping artworks using its corrugated shipping boxes.

You have to contact us at 1-800-836-0796  or salesupport@artailer.ca within 24 hours of receiving the package from the courier. Keep the package in a safe place and inspect the artwork to make sure it’s returned in the same condition it was sent. Send us a confirmation receipt email so we can go ahead and process the return. However, if the artwork has been damaged, take pictures of the damaged areas of the art piece and the packaging box and forward all the images to us. 

Artailer charges a 35% commission. Artailer covers all the cost of packaging and shipping of the work. The commission is put into our PR campaign and promotional activities such as corporate consultation, print and online advertising. This is an essential part of promoting you and your artwork. 

For now, we recommend sending funds via PayPal to our artists because we are still setting up our structures for direct bank deposit. You will be notified once it’s completed. You can access our different payment options in the ‘Payment Method’ section, under ‘Payments’ in your artist’s profile.

  • Direct Bank Deposit: (still in process)
  • PayPal: You must have a PayPal account to use this service. There is a transaction of up to 4.0% of the total funds delivered and a $0.30 on time set-up fee.
  • Cheque: Our cheques can be drawn on any bank within Canada. 

GST (Good & Service Tax) or HST (Harmonized Sales Tax), similar to VAT (Value Added Tax) in many countries, is a tax that applies to the supply of goods and services in Canada. GST/HST is not included in the listed price on our marketplace. The GST/HST applied is based on the buyer’s location. Artists who are registered with CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) may report their GST/HST directly with CRA after Artailer has confirmed your GST/HST registration status or number with CRA. For artists who are not registered with CRA, Artailer will collect the GST/HST from the sale of your artwork on behalf of them and forward it to the CRA.

Managing your Artwork

From the ‘Artworks’ section on your personal profile, click on ‘Upload new art’ and follow the steps below.

 

STEP 1: Upload your artwork by clicking the ‘Upload’ button and selecting the artworks you will like to upload from your computer.

STEP 2: Click on ‘Upload’ again to upload secondary images of the artwork

STEP 3: Check the small round button below the image you will like to keep as the main image. This will be the image that users will see on your front shop. All the other images uploaded but unchecked will be the secondary images of the main image.

 

 

You can always change the primary image by clicking on the ‘Edit’ button for the image in ‘Current Artwork on Sale’ section on your profile, by clicking on the round button of the image you want to showcase as your main image. 

 

Depending on the volume, we have a turnaround time of 48 hours to publish your work. 

Check the email address that is linked to your online profile, our curators might have declined the artwork. Please, if you haven’t received an email confirmation for the decline, contact us through 1-800-836-0796 or artistsupport@artailer.ca to ensure that we get it up live. 

Yes, every piece of art listed on our online gallery has been curated. We have a network of curators across Canada who go through every submission. They help to ensure that we feature only the best artists across Canada and list the best works of art from these artists. 

No, there is no minimum number of pieces you can upload. However, we advise artists to have at least 10 works in their shop at any given point in time, to showcase their expertise.  Collectors and art lovers love to see varieties, and they will like to visit your shop if they have options to choose from. 

BUYER'S FAQ/SUPPORT

Gift Card Certificate

You can place an order for a gift card once you have signed up and created an account on Artailer. Simply go to the footer and either click on the ‘Gift Card’ icon or "Gift Card" link under Customer Centre. 

You will then be redirected to the Gift Card page from which you will be able to select the value of the gift card you wish to order, how you want it to be delivered and whether or not you would like to enter a personalised message of your choice.

 

Click the ‘Submit’ button once you are done and follow the steps for payment in order to complete your transaction.

Return and Refunds

At the moment, we do not accept returns on orders shipped outside of North America.

All print and photography works listed on Artailer can be replaced, if the work is damaged in transit. 

Damage during transit would be a remote event due to the care and custom-made package boxes we use to ship your art piece to ensure safe delivery. But if this happens, please contact us within 24hrs at 1-800-836-0796 or salesupport@artailer.ca of receiving a damaged product for us to file the necessary claim. 

It is easy to cancel your order. You can do that through your online account before the order is shipped. You can still cancel your order once it has been shipped with our return and refund policies

If you don’t receive your purchase within the estimated delivery time, check your delivery address used for the purchase to ensure that it is correct, you can also check the status of your shipment with the tracking code provided, to find out if it’s still in transit. Or you can contact us at 1-800-836-0796 or salesupport@artailer.ca to help track your shipment. 

Artailer covers the shipping cost if you wish to return your purchase. We advise that once you receive your purchase, first remove the packaging and keep it in a safe place. Try the piece in your space, and if for some reason you still think it doesn’t quite fit your space, you can return the work within 7 days of receiving the package. Repackage the artwork in its original shipping box, and then contact us. We will send you a prepaid shipping label, which you will stick to the box and drop off at the nearest FedEx location. Please note that the item must be shipped within 7-days and in its original condition before it is eligible for refund. 

We want you to get the true artistic representation of your vision when you commission an artwork with us. We encourage frequent communication between you and the artist during the course of the commissioned project. You will be updated with the initial sketches or preliminary paintings, to ensure that you are satisfied with your final masterpiece. Since commissioned artworks are very unique and are created based on your personal taste, the sales are final. Thus, we are unable to accept returns on artworks made on commission, except in the case of damage during shipping. 

Inviting a Friend, Wishlist, Favourite an artwork

Inviting other friends to join Artailer.ca is an awesome way to share your love for art. Any users you invite automatically receive a $50 credit to spend on any art of their choice on Artailer.ca. Also you’ll get $50 credit for any purchase they make on Artailer.ca. 

 

Step 1: Click on the ‘Invite A Friend’ link in the footer, which will link you to the invite friends’ page,

 

 

 Step 2: Enter the email addresses of friends you would like to invite; you also have the option to enter a personalised message of your choice. Note that you can save time by importing your contacts directly from your email providers.

  

Step 3: Click on the ‘Submit’ button when finished. And that’s it!

If you forgot your password and you already logged on to Artailer, please go your profile page.

 

 

Click on the ‘Change Password’ link, change and enter your new password.

Or log out of your account, and then follow the instructions in steps 1 and 2 above. 

Most collectors and art lovers would like to see the face of the person who created the artwork(s) they love. We advise that you take the time to put a nice photo image of yourself on your profile. Your profile image would be displayed on your artworks.

To get the best of view of your profile image, ensure that your profile image is:

  • Pixel Dimensions 175 x 175
  • Or 2 x 2 cm or 0.6 x 0.7 Inch 

The best way to be up to date about your favourite artists on Artailer is to follow them. You will be first to know when your favourite artists upload new artworks, place some of their works on sale and if they have an upcoming show or exhibition.

To follow an artist, simply visit the artist’s profile page and click on the ‘Follow Me on Artailer.ca’ button.

 

 

Login to your account, and under your profile details click on ‘EDIT’ in ‘Other Information’, select your option from the drop down menu and click ‘save’ once finished.

You have the option to view the prices of the artwork displayed either in Canadian Dollars, US dollars, Chinese Yuan, Australian Dollars, British Pounds or Euros.

 

And measurement units in either centimetres or inches. 

You can choose which email notification you would like to receive from Artailer at anytime by logging into your account and clicking the ‘Edit’ button in your Profile Details, under ‘Notification’.

 

Tick or untick the box(es) next to the type of notification you would like to receive from Artailer, and click on the ‘Save’ button once done.
